We have been exploring Cold Places as part of our World Around Us theme.
Our roleplay area is a polar camp site and we have polar animals in our sensory tray.
Today, we looked at how animals stay warm in such cold conditions and when they swim in icy water 🥶❄️
We filled two basins with cold water and filled them with ice. We then made our own 'blubber glove' using sandwich bags and lard. When we put our bare hand into the basin it was cold 🥶 but the hand which was covered in the layer of bibber stayed warm!
