P2 have been working hard at solving some tricky problems. Today we listened to 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne. The animals in the story took the delicious fruit from Handa's basket and she ended up with a basket of yummy tangerines instead. What a surprise! As an extension of the story, the class were told that Handa and her friend then built a pyramid using the tangerines with a 5x5 base. The P2s were given the challenge of working out how many tangerines Handa and her friend used for each layer and also in total to build the pyramid. Take a look at some of the inventive ways that the children in P2 used to solve this tricky problem. Well done P2!
