As part of our Stories from Long Ago and Fairytale Topic we read The Gingerbread Man.
We loved joining in with the different parts and remembering the order of the characters!
Today, we took on the roles of engineers and investigated the best materials to make a bridge to get the Gingerbread Man across the river. We explored paper, card, wood, plastic bricks and metal. First of all we made predictions about which materials we thought would be best. Our reasons were fabulous.
Then we made bridges using each of the materials.
Next was the fun part...testing each bridge.
Ask us about which materials did not make strong bridges.
Finally we looked at real life bridges. The Golden Gate bridge was our favourite and Mrs McP told us about her visit to the Sydney Harbour bridge a long time ago!
