Important information regarding the new term

31st Dec 2020

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone has remained safe and well and has enjoyed the Christmas break.

This morning media channels have reported updated information regarding the start of the new school term.  Minister Weir has made a late change due to the deteriorating nature of the pandemic, the risk to public health, the pressures on our health service and the unprecedented levels of positive Covid 19 tests since Christmas. The updated information is that-

Primary school pupils will be taught remotely until 11th January, after which they will attend for face to face teaching.

School will accommodate vulnerable children and the children of key workers from the start of term. ( which for our school is Tuesday 5th January)

Obviously the safest place for children is within their family bubble, but if you have no alternative but to send your child to school on the 4 days next week, I would be grateful if you could email me by Sunday evening so that an up to date risk assessment can be carried out.  Please provide your child’s name, class and how you meet the above criteria.  Please note that school is supervisory for those children who need to attend  and current class bubbles will be maintained. Once the risk assessment is complete, I will be in the position to email on Monday to confirm or deny your request.  Work for remote learning will be available on our home learning portal from Tuesday.

To keep everyone safe, reduce the risk of transmission and protect those class bubbles in the weeks ahead, we aim to keep numbers to an absolute minimum next week and appreciate your support with this.  Whilst this is not the start to the term we had hoped for, the health and safety of the whole school community is paramount.

Thank you for your ongoing support in these extraordinary times and best wishes

O McIlroy
