We used four different coloured bowls and put an ice cube in each. The first bowl we added nothing, the second bowl we added sugar, the third we added salt and the fourth we added tepid water. We predicted and recorded which bowl we thought would melt first. We observed the bowls throughout the morning and watched the changes. The ice cube with the salt melted first and we talked about how we use salt to grit the roads in Winter.
